
Hotels in Germany
In the Federal Republic of Germany there is a wide variety of hotels and accommodation and the German Tourism Office offers guides with hotel and accommodation information, and in addition it also is possible to consult the Guide of the German Hotel Association.
Approximately 50% of the establishments that offer lodging belong to this association. There also is a special guide of hotels for lodging for physical disabled people called Hilfe.
Some hotels are located in old castles, mansions, palaces and monasteries; others are modern and have sauna, swimming pool and gymnasium.

Gastholf
This is another accommodation that provides hotel services, with the exception of a common room. 30% of the lodgings enter this category. Usually this little hotels are run by families.
Pensions
The pension provides accommodation, lodging and food solely to the clients, and it does not need to have a common room. 16% of the property establishments enter this category. Pensions are within the most affordable accommodation.
Farms
The Urlaub (Holiday) pamphlet auf dem Bauernhof (Vacations in Farms) is published with the participation of the German Agricultural Society; AgrartourGmbH offers lodging in agricultural houses. All the information is published in German and in some cases it is translated into English.

Historical vacations - Mansion-hotels in Germany
It is also possible to lodge in castles, mansions and historical buildings distributed by all the German geography. This type of lodging can be an alternative way of spending the holidays. For more information contact the Tourism Office of Germany.

Youth Hostels in Germany
There are 640 Youthhostels in all the country and they are open to the members of the International Association of Youthhostels. The German organization of Youthhostels is called Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk, Bismarckstrasse 8, 32756 Detmold, Postfach 1462, 32704 Detmold. Youthhostels are most prefered by students.
Camping in Germany

Germany counts with more than 2,500 camping sites. Normally, these camping, are open from April to October, but there are about 400 campings in areas where winter sports can be practiced, which remain open during the winter. Normally reservations cannot be done in advance.
