“The Golden Bear”, Jack Nicklaus was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1940 and is considered to be the greatest golf player of the modern era. Jack Nicklaus was a major force in professional golf, first on the PGA Tour from the 1960s to the mid to late 1980s, and then on the Champions Tour from the late 1980´s to the 1990´s, and is widely regarded as the greatest golfer of all time.
He has the remarkable record of 18 major championship wins in golfing history.
He is not only known as the greatest golf player, but also known for his superior golf course design - Nicklaus Design.

This five pound valuable note is an unique piece of golf memorabilia issued by the Bank of Scotland on July 14th, 2005 to coincide with the British Open played at the St. Andrews "Old Course" in Scotland.
