One of the main reasons for his visit was to check on the progress of the three Signature golf courses in Condado de Alhama, the World of Resorts Polaris World is creating in the Alhama de Murcia area.

The courses are being personally designed by him and, together with the company's other courses, will form the Nicklaus Golf Trail. Also whilst in Murcia, he was the guest of honour at the awards presentation for the best Polaris World agents, who had the privilege of dining with him. During the gala, Nicklaus recognised the importance of the agents who he said were "directly responsible for the success of Polaris World, its golf courses and the development of Murcia as one of the great golfing cities in Europe".

The Murcian Golf Federation also paid homage to Nicklaus in another gala which was held to mark the end of the Regional Absolute Championship. The celebrity golfer was presented with a Gold Medal in recognition of this significant contribution to the sport in the Region of Murcia.

Nicklaus Design has designed all the Polaris World golf courses. The three in Condado de Alhama are exceptional "Signature" courses designed by Jack Nicklaus himself and based on some of his best holes from around the world.
